Der Jugendbuchautor (Jahrgang 1969; zuletzt "Wolfsnacht", ID-A 33/11) und promovierte Literaturwissenschaftler ist stellvertretender Ministerpräsident in Schleswig-Holstein und kandidiert für die Position des männlichen Spitzenkandidaten der Grünen bei der Bundestagswahl 2017. Das Buch ist allerdings weniger eine umfangreiche Bewerbungsschrift als ein aufrichtiger Bericht über sich selbst und was die Politik persönlich mit einem macht. Er erzählt, wie über eine Schultheateraufführung plötzlich die Katastrophe von Tschernobyl hereinbricht, über die Abgründe des Philosophiestudiums (Heideggerlektüre!) und seine 1. Begegnung mit einem damals desolaten Kreisverband der Grünen. Er schreibt über seine Arbeit als Minister und lässt erkennen, wie schmerzlich, aber wohl notwendig Kompromisse im politischen Geschäft sind. Er ist zuständig für Landwirtschaft und Umweltschutz! Habeck kann schreiben, auch wenn man dem Buch schon anmerkt, dass es "zwischendurch" geschrieben wurde. Sympathisch ist vor allem der optimistische Ton des Buches, das so nebenbei gegen die allgemeine Politikverdrossenheit helfen kann. (2)
