Das "Netzwerk Alice" wurde von Louise de Bettignies, der "Königin der Spione" geleitet, viele Frauen waren in diesem Netzwerk aktiv. Der Roman spielt auf zwei Zeitebenen: 1915 spioniert Eve in Lille im Netzwerk, 1947 sucht die junge Amerikanerin Charlie ihre vermisste französische Cousine Rose. Charlie wendet sich an Eve, weil von ihr die letzten Informationen über Rose gekommen waren. Und so erfährt der Leser Stück für Stück vom Leben im besetzten Frankreich zur Zeit des 1. Weltkrieges und von den Schrecken der Besatzungszeit während des 2. Weltkriegs. Eve unterstützt Charlie gemeinsam mit ihrem Fahrer Finn bei der Suche nach Rose als sie feststellt, dass eine Person aus ihrer Vergangenheit auch im Zusammenhang mit Rose auftaucht. Eine gut recherchierte, fesselnde Geschichte voller Menschlichkeit um starke Charaktere. Kaufempfehlung für alle Bibliotheken.
