    Content: Gegenstand des Bandes ist der Entwurf eines kognitiv orientierten Modells zur Generierung und lautsprachlichen Realisierung prosodischer Merkmale und Konstituenten und deren computerlinguistische Umsetzung im Rahmen eines Sprachproduktionssystems. Ausgangspunkt ist eine Begriffsbestimmung der Prosodie und eine funktionale Analyse prosodischer Phänomene in Bezug auf das grammatische Gesamtsystem. Im dritten Kapitel erfolgt die phonologische und phonetische Analyse und formale Definition prosodischer Merkmale und Konstituenten. Das vierte Kapitel widmet sich dem Prozeß der prosodischen Spezifizierung einer Äußerung. Ausgehend vom Leveltschen Sprachproduktionsmodell wird ein modulares Modell zum Zusammenhang zwischen Sprachproduktion und Prosodie entwickelt. Inkrementell operierende prosodische Prozesse werden auf der Grundlage psycholinguistischer und phonetischer Befunde definierten Prozeßebenen zugeordnet. Im fünften Kapitel werden merkmalsstrukturbasierte Repräsentationen für prosodische Konstituenten, Merkmale und Regeln vorgestellt. Die Regeln betreffen die Fokus-Akzent-Abbildung, die Akzentfestlegung in komplexen syntaktischen Phrasen, die Ableitung der prosodischen Phrasierung und die tonale Realisierung der Akzent- und Phraseninformation. Sie stellen eine Erweiterung zeichenbasierter Grammatiktheorien (z.B. HPSG) dar. Die Prozeßsicht auf prosodische Phänomene gibt Erklärungen für die prosodische Variabilität in der Spontansprache. Das sechste Kapitel stellt die artikulatorische und akustische Realisierung prosodisch spezifizierter Äußerungen dar. Es werden die Ableitung artikulatorischer Strukturen, die Rhythmus- und die Grundfrequenzberechnung beschrieben.

The study develops feature-based representations for prosodic features, constituents, and rules (e.g. focus-accent imaging, tonal planning). Prosodic processes are specified generating prosodic features and structures with relation to semantic, syntactic, lexical, and phonological knowledge and mapping them onto phonetic parameters. Based on psycholinguistic findings, prosodic processes are allocated to different levels of language production.
