Das Buch erarbeitet sozialethische Anforderungen an eine anerkennungsorientierte Reform der Pflegepolitik. Die Pflege älterer Menschen in Deutschland wird größtenteils von Angehörigen, migrantischen Care-Arbeiterinnen und ambulanten Pflegekräften in Privathaushalten geleistet. Die überwiegend weiblichen Pflegenden erfahren Asymmetrien, einen Mangel an Selbstbestimmung und sozialer Anerkennung. Das Buch analysiert die Bedingungen häuslicher Pflegearbeit in Deutschland, wertet Expert*innen-Interviews aus und profiliert Anerkennungsdefizite der Pflegearbeit durch einen Vergleich von Pflegeregimen. Es werden Kriterien für eine Reform der Pflegepolitik entwickelt.
