Für den osteuropäischen Romancier und Essayisten György Konrád ist es angesichts der gegenwärtigen sowohl von West- wie Osteuropa betriebenen Politik unumgänglich, die Notwendigkeit einer Antipolitik zu begründen. Denn die in Jalta festgelegte Aufteilung Europas hat zu fatalen Konsequenzen geführt, deren deutlichtste die ständige Gefährdung des Friedens und die fast totale Einbindung der Staaten in zwei untershiedliche Machtbereiche sind. Einer solchen Politik setzt György Konrád seine Thesen entgegen: Vereinigte Staaten Westeuropas sind nicht möglich. Möglich sind nur Vereinigte Staaten Europas. Keine der westeuropäischen Regierungen hat einen kardinalen Friedensvorschlag, einen Vorschlag zur Beseitigung des Eisernen Vorhangs unterbreitet. Die europäischen Politiker besitzen keine gewagte und essentielle Friedensstrategie, sie ergreifen keine Initiative zu einer inhaltlichen Diskussion. Westeuropa kann in der Welt nur dann eine würdige Rolle spielen, wenn die Rollenteilung nicht durch das von den USA und der Sowjetunion polarisierte Weltgefüge bestimmt wird.
