Der 1961 verstorbene US-amerikanische Arzt und Psychiater Goldensohn hat als offizieller Gerichtspsychiater bei den Nürnberger Prozessen mit Hauptangeklagten und Zeugen Gespräche geführt und davon Aufzeichnungen gemacht, die zunächst nicht in Gänze oder auch nur in Teilen veröffentlicht werden durften. 40 Jahre nach dem Tod Goldensohns übernahm der international angesehene, hierzulande mit einer Studie über die Gestapo und die deutsche Gesellschaft (ID 37/93) bekannt gewordene Zeithistoriker R. Gellately (Florida State University; hier zuletzt BA 7/02) die Publikation der Notizen: Er hat die ungewöhnlich aufschlussreichen, noch unmittelbar der NS-Geschichte verhafteten Zeugnisse transkribiert, redigiert und kommentiert. Sachlich bieten sie kaum Neues, aber mittels Strukturierung der die Mentalität der Partner erfragenden "Werkstattgespräche" gelingt es, etwas vom Komplizentum der NS-Größen bei Völkermord und anderen Verbrechen deutlich zu machen, was allein die Lektüre lohnt.
