Von den sprachanalytischen Forschungsansätzen in verschiedenen Wissenschaftsdisziplinen ausgehend formuliert diese Sprachuntersuchung aus linguistischer Perspektive ein eigenständiges Forschungsprogramm, auf deren Grundlage politische Reden von Theodor Heuss und Konrad Adenauer sowohl synchron als auch diachron (Reden von 1919 und nach 1945) analysiert werden. Ziel der Sprachanalyse ist es, die Funktionsweise politischer Reden transparenter zu machen und den politischen Sprachwandel in der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts bei zwei einflußreichen Persönlichkeiten nachzuvollziehen. Die Studie weist an vielfältigen Beispielen nach, daß die spezifisch sprachwissenschaftliche Untersuchungsmethode politischer Sprache Forschungsergebnisse erbringen kann, die Verfahren sozialwissenschaftlicher Disziplinen (Politik- und Geschichtswissenschaft) erweitern können.
