Das Verhaltenstraining im Kindergarten stellt ein universelles Präventionsprogramm zur Förderung der sozial-emotionalen Kompetenz dar. Es richtet sich an Kinder im Alter von drei bis sechs Jahren und wird im Umfang von 25 Einheiten durchgeführt. Die Entwicklung der Kinder wird umfassend in den folgenden Bereichen unterstützt: emotionale Kompetenz, soziale Problemlösung und soziale Fertigkeiten. Die Kinder lernen im Spiel, Gefühle bei sich und bei anderen zu entdecken und Konflikte im Alltag besser zu bewältigen. Sie bearbeiten typische Konflikte aus dem Kindergartenalltag, erproben positives Verhalten in Rollenspielen und erweitern so ihre Kompetenzen in sozialen Situationen. Das Training ist altersgemäß gestaltet und motiviert die Kinder durch ansprechendes Material zu aktiver Teilnahme. Dazu werden Leitfiguren (Delfin Finn, Sina und Benny) eingesetzt, die helfen, eigene Probleme zu bearbeiten. Das Training im Kindergarten ist dazu geeignet, eine bessere Lernatmosphäre in der Gruppe herzustellen und erste Anzeichen für Verhaltensprobleme bei Kindern zu verringern. Bildmaterialien und Arbeitsblätter für die Durchführung des Trainings können von der beiliegenden CD-ROM direkt ausgedruckt werden. Zusätzlich zum Buch sind Spielmaterialien über die Testzentrale lieferbar. Diese bestehen u.a. aus der Handpuppe Finn, dem Spielbrett «Die Gefühlsspirale», dem Meerbild mit Aufklebern sowie Regel- und Gefühlskarten.
