Klappentext: Das bürgerliche Trauerspiel bildet seit dem Ende der sechziger Jahre einen Fokus germanistischer Forschung. Sich von einlinigen Basis-Überbau-Zuordnungen absetzend integriert die Untersuchung sozialwissenschaftlich und diskursanalytisch orientierte Interpretationsansätze, um so zu einer genaueren Beschreibung des "Bürgerlichen" im Trauerspiel Diderots und Lessings zu gelangen. Dies ist offensichtlich nicht an die soziale Zuordnung der Figuren gebunden, sondern an eine abstrakte Ethik, die bereits in ihrer Konstitution auf die "Dialektik der Aufklärung" verweist.
