Die vorliegende Studie zeichnet ein plastisches Bild der Lyrik Paul Celans und all dessen, was seine polnischen Übersetzer leisten mussten. Die semantisch präzisen Analysen der Gedichte Celans führen in bedeutende Details der Lebensgeschichte des Dichters ein. Aber auch seine Poetologie, Elemente der jüdischen Tradition, Medizin und Geologie verlangen wissende Aufmerksamkeit sowohl von Lesern als auch Übersetzern, die sich mit Paul Celan beschäftigen: so kann schon die Lektüre seiner Gedichte - metaphorisch - als Übersetzen verstanden werden. Parallel zur Interpretation der Originaltexte erklärt und bewertet die Autorin die wichtigsten Übersetzungen ins Polnische mit ihren Konsequenzen für die Celan-Rezeption in unserem östlichen Nachbarland.
