Rezension: Die Buchbeiträge wurden ausgewählt und kommentiert von Mitgliedern der Deutschen Akademie für Städtebau und Landesplanung. Herausgegeben wurde das Buch von Heidede Becker und Johann Jessen im Verlag DOM publishers in Berlin. Das Lesebuch erscheint anlässlich des 100-jährigen Bestehens der Akademie in 2022. Die Auswahl enthält Auszüge aus Klassikern, neu entdeckte wissenschaftliche Aufsätze, kraftvolle Reden und einflussreiche Manifeste, aber auch Zeitungsartikel, Reiseberichte und sogar Gedichte. Das Spektrum der Autoren reicht von Cornelius Gurlitt über Rudolf Hillebrecht bis Thomas Sieverts, von Walter Benjamin über Jane Jacobs bis Erika Spiegel. Die Schwerpunkte streuen so weit wie die Fachdisziplinen, die in der Akademie vertreten sind: nicht nur Stadt- und Regionalplanung, auch Architektur und Landschaftsarchitektur, Verkehrsplanung, Bau- und Planungsrecht, Stadtsoziologie und Stadtökonomie. Dazu Texte aus anderen Wissenschaftsdisziplinen wie Philosophie und Ökologie, die mit ihrem Blick von außen schon immer die Fachdebatten in der Praxis und Theorie des Städtebaus bereicherten.
