Er versucht dabei eine Linie der Entwicklung der verschiedenen Formen von Gewalt aufzuzeigen und diese im Kontext der Gesellschaft und Kultur zu verstehen. Dabei wird der Akt des Tötens nicht nur als Mord, sondern auch in seiner symbolischen Bedeutung erörtert.
