It turns out that Geralde is black. Is that enough to explain some of her social or romantic reactions, her complexes? But already the relationship with Pierce, the reception of his family disconcerted, even embarrassed by her color and who finds only to rave about her hairstyle, foreshadow a break that becomes unavoidable. If Géralde is free again, it is to fall immediately into the arms of a seductive forty-year-old journalist who gives a lecture at the Alliance française de Wellington. His name is Hadrian, he is white.
