If the wealth of exchanges between Brazil and France is well known in the field of social sciences such as sociology or anthropology, fields in which the French presence in Brazil has given rise to very fruitful exchanges that benefited the two actions even in the midst of art, an area in which that the ties between the two countries still remain largely untapped. However, there are clearly two national traditions marked each by the strong development of this field of research, and, due to its undeniable progress, the researches that stood out both in Brazil and in France necessarily met. This work attempts to present the state of the sociology of art in France and Brazil. Both countries showing a strong sociological tradition, it is about highlighting the specifics of each one, but also the traits in common, as well as the themes on which they dialogue, whether they have already started or are yet to happen.
