Die klassische Moralphilosophie des Abendlandes lässt sich in zwei Modellen bündeln: in Aristoteles' Ethik des gelungen-glücklichen Lebens und in Kants Ethik des kategorischen Imperativs. Ein drittes, zwar wirkungsmächtiges, aber nicht klassisches Modell bündelt sich im Werk des Philologen, Schriftstellers und vor allem Philosophen Friedrich Nietzsche. In seiner "Streitschrift" "Zur Genealogie der Moral" führt er die abendländische Moralkritik zu einem Höhepunkt. Zugleich schafft er eine Wende dieser Moralphilosophie, die sich allerdings nicht weitflächig durchzusetzen vermag. Der folgende kooperative Kommentar versammelt elf Originalbeiträge, in denen Nietzsches "Genealogie der Moral" vorgestellt und diskutiert wird.
