Der Traktat Sukkah aus dem babylonischen Talmud enthält ein breites Spektrum rabbinischer Quellen aus Israel und Babylon, die explizit Themen behandeln, die mit Frauen zu tun haben. Diese Texte wurden von jüdischen Gelehrten aus der Zeit des zweiten Tempels und seiner Zerstörung , den sogenannten "Tannaim", und von Gelehrten aus dem dritten bis siebten Jahrhundert, den "Amoraim", geschrieben. Die Quellen lassen sich in zwei Kategorien aufteilen: Texte, die direkt mit Frauen und Sukkot, dem Laubhüttenfest, zu tun haben, und solche, die indirekt von Frauen handeln und den Talmud-Fragmenten hinzugefügt wurden. Shulamit Valler analysiert in ihrem Kommentar alle Textstellen dieses Traktats, die mit Frauen und Genderkonzeptionen zu tun haben, und arbeitet so Erkenntnisse zu der Lebensrealität, Lebensführung und Eigenwahrnehmung dieser Frauen heraus.
