Die Rezeption polnischer Dramen in Ost- und Westdeutschland wird in diesem Buch anhand von Doppel-Übersetzungen und Theaterkritiken dargestellt. Dabei zeigen sich zwischen Ost und West signifikante Unterschiede. Die Auswahl der Dramen sowie die zeitlichen Verläufe können im Blick auf den politischen Kontext geradezu spiegelbildlich geordnet werden. Auch sind die ostdeutschen Übersetzungen genauer als die westdeutschen. Dagegen lässt sich eine gesamtdeutsche Gemeinsamkeit in der Differenz des sinnenfrohen polnischen Theaterstils zum traditionellen deutschen Sprechtheater erkennen.
