Endlich ein Buch, das nicht darüber philosophiert, ob digitale "Manipulation" noch echte Kunst hervorbringen kann. Der Autorin gelingt ein solider und faktenreicher Überblick über das, was heute unter "Digital Art" zusammengefasst wird. Dabei zeigt sie die Anfänge auf, erklärt wie digitale Technik die Bildbearbeitung revolutioniert hat - und damit auch die Ästhetik der dabei entstehenden Werke. In einem 2. Kapitel zeigt sie, wie Künstler die neue Technik ausschließlich zur Kunstproduktion nutzen. Letztendlich verschiebt sich mit Web 2.0 auch in der Kunst die klassische Aufteilung zwischen Produzent und Rezipient. Folglich liefert das Buch nicht nur kunstimmanente Analysen, sondern beobachtet die Wechselbeziehung zwischen gesellschaftlichen Entwicklungen und der Kunstproduktion.
