Das Fotografenpaar legt erneut ein Foto-Bilderbuch über die Tiere des Waldes vor (zuletzt "Geheimnisvoller Besuch im Winterwald", ID-A 44/16), in dem der "Star" wieder ein weißer Hirsch ist (bereits auf dem Cover zu sehen). Zwei Kinder machen einen Waldspaziergang und entdecken dabei viele Tiere. Verstrickt in diese Geschichte zeigt der Band ausdrucksstarke Tierfotografien in allermeist guter Qualität: Waschbär, Fuchs, Kaninchen, junge Hirsche. Dass das Buch eigentlich amerikanischen Ursprungs ist, zeigt sich an den weiteren Tieren: Stachelschwein, Rotkehlhüttensänger, Helmspecht oder Rotflügelstärling findet man in unseren Wäldern eben nicht. Auch das abgebildete Rotkehlchen ist eigentlich ein "amerikanisches Rotkehlchen" und sieht anders aus als unseres. Abgesehen davon hat auch dieses Buch von Sams und Stoick seinen zauberhaften und geheimnisvollen Reiz. Zum Verlag: Ende 2018 wurde der Kerle Verlag in kizz umbenannt. Unter dem Leitsatz "Für die Abenteuer des Lebens" gibt der Herder-Sprössling zukünftig Bilder- und Kinderbücher heraus. Wen die amerikanische Prägung nicht stört, kann gerne zugreifen.
