Yousafzai: ID-A 44/13) lässt sich nicht sattlesen, erzählen sie doch aus der Innenwelt von Mentalitäten, Kulturen, Alltagsbedingungen, die sich unserer Erfahrung entziehen. Die Autorin (Jahrgang 1990) stammt aus dem "stillen und wunderschönen Waziristan", Grenzgebiet zwischen Afghanistan und Pakistan, heute Hauptquartier der Taliban. Ihr Vater wurde wegen "unehrenhaften" Verhaltens, wegen seines Einsatzes für Frauenrechte, aus seinem Clan verstoßen, die Familie lebte fortan in der Großstadt Peschawar. Die sportbegabte Tochter förderte er, indem sie als Junge leben durfte (s. auch J. Nordberg: ID-B 41/15), doch nach der Entdeckung bedrohen die Taliban ihr Leben. Die Schule der Mutter und das Institut des Vaters werden zerbombt, Schulbusfahrer ermordet, sie selbst muss unter Polizeischutz im Haus verharren. Zermürbt, zutiefst deprimiert gelingt ihr die Ausreise nach Kanada, wo sie heute als bekannte Squash-Spielerin lebt.
