Seit dem Tod seiner Eltern lebt Stanley Potts bei seinem Onkel und seiner Tante, bei denen er sich wohl fühlt. Aber dann passiert der absolute Irrsinn: Sein Onkel verliert seine Arbeit auf der Werft und kommt auf die verrückte Idee, seine Wohnung in eine Fischfabrik zu verwandeln und dort tote Fische in Dosen zu verpacken. Es führt sogar soweit, dass Stanley nicht mehr zur Schule geht, da er beim Eindosen helfen muss und er sogar aus Platzmangel im Wandschrank schläft. Aber dann schlägt sein Onkel über die Stränge, als er Stanleys geliebte Goldfische als Produktneuheit eindost. Stanley läuft total unglücklich von zu Hause weg und schliesst sich einem Aussteller eines Jahrmarktes an, der gerade weiterzieht. Dort trifft er auf den Magier Pancho Pirelli, der Stanley zu seinem Schüler macht und ihn dazu bringt, in ein Becken voller hungriger Piranhas zu springen. Wie schon in seinem letzten Werk "Mina" erzählt der bekannte Autor wieder sehr poetisch und mit viel Feingefühl von Stans Abenteuern und dem Leben, das viel mehr umfasst. Man muss es sich nur zutrauen! Überall empfehlenswert. Ab 10
