Farrow (geboren 1987), Jurist, ehemaliger Regierungsberater, Journalist und Autor ("Das Ende der Diplomatie", ID-B 39/18), erhielt 2018 den renommierten Pulitzer-Preis für seine investigativen Artikel, die im Herbst 2017 im "New Yorker" erschienen, mit denen er den Weinstein-Skandal mit auslöste. Er berichtet sehr ausführlich über seine Recherchen. Es gelang ihm, einige Frauen, die Weinsteins sexuelle Übergriffe und Vergewaltigungen erlebt hatten, zum Reden zu bringen. Dessen Verhalten gegenüber Frauen war kein Geheimnis. Farrow schildert das System von Machtmissbrauch und Erpressung, das Weinstein aufgebaut hatte, um seine Geschäftsinteressen durchzusetzen. Betroffene Frauen wurden diskreditiert und mit Schweige-Vereinbarungen mundtot gemacht. Auch auf die Medien übte Weinstein Druck aus, wovon Farrow selbst betroffen war. Farrow zeigt auf, in welchem Ausmaß durch Einschüchterung und Erpressung Recherchen behindert und brisante Geschichten verhindert werden - eine Methode, derer sich auch Trump bedient. - Auch wenn das Buch an manchen Stellen zu detailliert ist, liest es sich spannend wie ein Krimi.
