Erzählt wird in Anlehnung an Gen 14,18-20 die Geschichte des Königssohnes von Salem, Melchisedek. Weil er sich weigert, mit seinem Vater am Götzenopfer teilzunehmen, soll er selbst geopfert werden. Er flieht auf den Berg Tabor und lebt dort in Einsamkeit. Abraham führt ihn wieder zurück, empfängt von ihm den Segen und gibt ihm den Zehnten. Die Erzählung ist griechisch, syrisch, koptisch, äthiopisch, arabisch, armenisch, georgisch, slavisch, rumänisch überliefert. Im Kern handelt es sich um eine jüdische Erzählung, die jedoch deutliche Spuren einer christlichen Überarbeitung aufweist. (Info Verlag)
