Korruption ist ein allgegenwärtiges Problem, welches in allen Regionen dieser Welt auftritt. Um die internationale Korruptionsproblematik zu lösen, ist ein gemeinsames Handeln der unterschiedlichen Akteure notwendig. Im internationalen Kampf gegen die Korruption nehmen die Vereinten Nationen eine Schlüsselposition ein. In diesem Zusammenhang spielt die Korruptionsbekämpfung innerhalb des Systems der Vereinten Nationen eine wichtige Rolle, denn nur eine korruptionsfreie und damit glaubwürdige UNO ist in der Lage, ihre bedeutende Stellung im Kampf gegen die internationale Korruption auszuüben. Infolgedessen ist sie eine unverzichtbare Institution im Kampf gegen die Korruption. Inwieweit sie die von der internationalen Gemeinschaft zugedachte Rolle in der internationalen Korruptionsbekämpfung ausfüllen wird, wird sich daran zeigen, ob die angekündigten und auf den Weg gebrachten Maßnahmen auch tatsächlich umgesetzt werden.
