Diese Arbeit zielt auf die Erfassung, typologische Gliederung, etymologische Deutung sowie linguistische und kulturhistorische Analyse der in Wiener Quellen belegten Anthroponyme des 15. Jahrhunderts. Neben einem umfassenden Namenbuch mit historischem Belegmaterial werden Fragen der Erblichkeit von Beinamen, schreibsprachliche Besonderheiten im Namenmaterial und Tendenzen der Rufnamengebung behandelt. Dabei zeichnet sich im 15. Jahrhundert die Fixierung und Erblichwerdung der Beinamen und damit die Etablierung von vererbten Familiennamen ab. Die in Namen enthaltenen Informationen zur soziokulturellen Struktur und dem spätmittelalterlichen Zuzugsgebiet der Stadt werden in einer kulturhistorischen Analyse herausgearbeitet.
