Die Arbeit untersucht Lebensbedingungen und seelsorgerliche Herausforderungen in Altenpflegeheimen. Eine nähere Betrachtung stationärer Einrichtungen lässt das verbale Verstummen Pflegebedürftiger als ein zentrales Merkmal dieser Lebenswelt hervortreten. Das Nonverbale gewinnt im stationären Kontext somit an Bedeutung. Die Seelsorge wird genötigt, sich körpersprachlicher Ausdrucksformen zu bedienen. Dies wirft die Frage auf, wie eigentlich Seelsorgende in der Praxis nonverbal kommunizieren. Im Rahmen einer Multiple-Case-Fallstudie werden gefilmte Besuche von Seelsorgerinnen und Seelsorgern in Heimen unterschiedlicher Trägerschaft ausgewertet mit dem Ziel der Generierung einer gegenstandsbezogenen, praxistauglichen poimenischen Theorie.
