Das Informationsfreiheitsgesetz soll Informationszugangsrechte und die Kontrolle staatlichen Handelns verbessern und somit auch ein Mittel zur Korruptionsbekämpfung durch erhöhte Transparenz darstellen. Die Arbeit vergleicht öffentlich-staatliche und private Verfolgung von Korruption. Dabei stellt sich die Frage, wie sich eine private Verfolgung auswirkt, die nicht vom Staat initiiert wird, d.h. nicht durch finanzielle Anreize wie Belohnungen und Prämien des Staates motiviert wird, sondern sich allein durch private Erlöse finanziert. Es wird untersucht, welche Auswirkungen diese private Verfolgung in Abhängigkeit von der jeweiligen Organisationsform auf die Korruptionsverfolgung und damit auf die Abschreckung hat. Darüber hinaus werden die Folgen auf die Wohlfahrt untersucht. Diese Ergebnisse werden mit jenen einer staatlichen Verfolgung und einem planerischen Optimalzustand verglichen.
