In diesem Band sollen Annäherungen an das Phänomen der deutschen Jugendsprache aus unterschiedlicher Sichtweise vorgenommen werden. Ein solcher multiperspektivischer Ansatz erscheint geeignet, der Vielschichtigkeit und Sperrigkeit des sich einer monosemischen Definition widersetzenden Forschungsgegenstandes hinreichend gerecht zu werden. Jedes der elf Kapitel ist dabei einer linguistischen Teildisziplin verpflichtet, darunter Grammatik, Soziolinguistik, Textlinguistik, Kulturwissenschaft, Sprachkontaktforschung, Sprachwandelforschung und Sprachkritik. Die Frage, ob die Jugendsprache die Substanz der historisch gewachsenen und im Laufe der Kulturgeschichte verfeinerten deutschen Sprache subversiv untergräbt oder ob ihr sprachhistorischer Wert in ihrem enormen sprachschöpferischen Potenzial ruht und sie damit die Vorhut des weder vermeidlichen noch umkehrbaren kontinuierlichen Sprachwandels bildet, ist kaum definitiv zu beantworten. Ziel der Monographie ist daher vielmehr mithilfe unterschiedlicher Ansätze einen möglichst umfassenden Überblick über Erscheinungsformen der (deutschen) Jugendsprache zu präsentieren und zur weiteren Vertiefung der einzelnen Forschungsansätze anzuregen.
