Die Arbeit stellt die Analyse zentraler Lemmata der italienischen Jugendkultur sowie regionaler Elemente (Padua) in den Vordergrund und diskutiert diese hinsichtlich ihrer Verbreitung und ihres Gebrauchs. Wiederholte statistische Erhebungen erlauben eine Sprachdynamik nachzuzeichnen und den Aspekt der Identität zu ergänzen. Dem Leser wird damit ein Grundverständnis des Konzepts der Identität vermittelt. Er erhält Einblicke in die systematische Vorgehensweise bei der Erstellung eines Fragebogens, der sowohl linguistischen Kriterien genügt als auch valide Daten zur Errechnung identitätskonstituierender Größen offeriert. Besonders junge Mädchen sind in ihrer Identität diffus. Gleichzeitig benutzen Mädchen mit androgyner Persönlichkeit signifikant häufiger das getestete Vokabular fern von jugendspezifischen Kontexten. Der Einfluss dieser Mädchen auf die Konvergenzbewegung Subvarietät – Standard ist somit zentrales Forschungsergebnis.
