Das Arbeitskräfteanwerbeabkommen zwischen der Türkei und Österreich wurde 1964 unterzeichnet. Seit damals ist fast ein halbes Jahrhundert vergangen. Dieses Abkommen bildet den Meilenstein in den Beziehungen der Türkei und Österreich. Bis dahin waren die Beziehungen beider Länder mit den Erfahrungen des Osmanischen Reiches sowie der Habsburger Monarchie gekennzeichnet. Die ArbeitsmigrantInnen aus der Türkei spielen auch nach fast 50 Jahren eine wesentliche Rolle auf dem Arbeitsmarkt in Österreich. Der erste Beitrag des Österreichischen Gewerkschaftsbundes dabei war die aktive Beteiligung bei der Festlegung der jährlichen Einwanderungsquoten. Wie hat sich der Zugang des Österreichischen Gewerkschaftsbundes mit seinen Teilgewerkschaften seit damals auf die ausländischen ArbeitnehmerInnen entwickelt und wie war ihre Reaktion auf die Veränderungen auf dem Arbeitsmarkt? Mit einem historischen Rückblick auf die Entwicklungen in den letzten 50 Jahren ist der Analyse der Gegenwart ein wesentliches Augenmerk gewidmet.
