Die Haftung des Tierarztes gewinnt zunehmend an Bedeutung. Die vorliegende Arbeit nimmt diese Entwicklung zum Anlass, die zivilrechtliche Verantwortlichkeit von Veterinären grundlegend zu betrachten. Nach einem Überblick über die historische Entwicklung werden zunächst die Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede zur Haftung des Humanmediziners analysiert. Anschließend befasst sich die Arbeit mit den in Betracht kommenden Anspruchsgrundlagen, wobei auch die im Kontext der Kaufuntersuchung relevante Frage der Haftung gegenüber Dritten beleuchtet wird. Aufbauend darauf widmet sich die Untersuchung sodann den Pflichten und Haftungsgründen während der tierärztlichen Behandlung, der Aufklärung sowie der Durchführung von Kaufuntersuchungen. Stets wird dabei die Rechtsprechung berücksichtigt und kritisch bewertet. Die Arbeit schließt mit einer umfassenden Darstellung zivilprozessualer Fragen, welche für die Durchsetzung von Haftungsansprüchen von entscheidender Bedeutung sind.
