Dieses Buch macht die Beiträge eines Workshops der Nationalen Akademie der Wissenschaften LEOPOLDINA zum Thema Umweltkrisen in Heidelberg im November 2014 der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. Hochkarätige Experten diskutierten anhand von Beispielen die Veränderungen, die aus solchen Krisen und langsamen Parameteränderungen erwachsen und die mit ihrer Wahrnehmung verbundenen Bewertungsprobleme. Dabei wird das Thema sowohl aus natur- wie auch aus geisteswissenschaftlicher Sicht beleuchtet. Der Herausgeber Bernd Herrmann ist emeritierter Professor für Historische Anthropologie und Humanökologie an der Universität Göttingen.
