Der vierte Bahnhof in diesem Stadtgebiet, der 2012 in Teilbetrieb gehen soll, wird auch einen neuen Namen tragen: Hauptbahnhof Wien.Zum besseren Verständnis werden die Fotos mit Plänen und einem historischen Rückblick zur Süd- und Ostbahn ergänzt sowie mit einem Ausblick auf den Hauptbahnhof Wien. In this large-format photobook, the artist Roman Bönsch pays homage to Vienna’s landmark, the former Southern Train Station (Südbahnhof), and documents its demolition.The book includes crisp, detailed color and high-definition photographs of the station building, the tracks and their functional units as well as of the immediate urban surroundings, offering insights into public spaces and those not accessible to the public like workrooms and changing rooms - from both the last years in operation and during the demolition.From 1955-1961 the architect and ÖBB planner Heinrich Hrdlicka erected in cooperation with Rudolf Maculan and Kurt Walder the third Southern Station, which has remained an important part of the city’s inner landscape, and is still present in the minds of all polyglot visitors from the south and east.The 4th Southern Train Station, which is scheduled to open for partial operations in 2012, will bear a new name: Vienna Main Station.To help put them in context, the images are complemented by schematics, a historical retrospective dating back to the beginnings of the “Southern and Eastern Lines Stations,” and an outlook on the new Main Station
