    Content: Was passiert beim Übersetzen im Kopf? Und wie beeinflusst unsere Muttersprache unser Sprechen, Schreiben, Denken und Übersetzen? In der Antwort auf die eine Frage steckt die Auflösung der anderen. KyeongHwa Lee hat beide Fragen mittels Eye-Tracking, Schreibprozessanalyse und einer Befragung der Studienteilnehmer erforscht. Siekann belegen, dass Menschen unterschiedlicher Muttersprache die Informationen eines Satzes auf verschiedene Weisen speichern und verarbeiten. Entscheidend sind offenbar die syntaktische Struktur und die Informationsstruktur ihrer jeweiligen Muttersprache. Siehaben Einfluss darauf, wie wir Texte verstehen, wie wir sprechen und schreiben und wie wir von einer Sprache in die andere übersetzen. Eine ähnliche Satzstruktur der Arbeitssprachen erleichtert offenbar den Sprachtransferprozess. Doch der Einfluss der Muttersprache geht weit darüber hinaus: Sie prägt auch unser Denken

In the answer to one question lies the resolution of the other. KyeongHwa Lee has explored both questions using eye tracking, writing process analysis, and a survey of study participants. She can prove that people of different native languages store and process the information of a sentence in different ways. The syntactic structure and the information structure of their respective native language obviously play a decisive role. They influence how we understand texts, how we speak and write, and how we translate from one language to another. Similar sentence structure of working languages apparently facilitates the language transfer process. But the influence of the mother tongue goes far beyond that: it also shapes our thinking
