Zu diesem Anlass analysiert die ARD-Korrespondentin Claudia Buckenmaier in ihrem neuen Buch die aktuelle politische und gesellschaftliche Situation in den USA. Der Untertitel - Bericht aus einem verwundeten Land - spiegelt sich auch im Aufbau der Kapitel wider. Als Leiterin des ARD-Studios in Washington, D.C. konnte die Autorin zwischen Januar 2021 und Juni 2022 viele der zentralen Entwicklungen in den USA direkt vor Ort miterleben. So war sie am 6. Januar 2021 mit ihrem Team vor dem US-Kapitol, als dieses von einem Mob gestürmt wurde. Diese und weitere Geschehnisse werden im vorliegenden Buch lebendig beschrieben. Die Autorin sucht dazu immer wieder das Gespräch mit den US-Bürger*innen und zeigt die "Sackgassen und Herausforderungen der [US-]Politik". Wie sehr auch topaktuelle Themen wie die Zunahme von Fake News und Verschwörungstheorien die Diskussion beeinflussen, wird ebenfalls in einem Kapitel behandelt. - Das Buch ist eine gute Ergänzung zu Jan Philipp Burgards "Mensch, Amerika!"
