Der junge Sherlock Holmes gründet zusammen mit seinem Freund Walter aus Berlin eine Detektivagentur. Sein 1. Fall führt die beiden in den Londoner St. James Park, wo einer alten Dame ein kostbare Ring gestohlen wurde. Die Spuren deuten darauf hin, dass ein Bär den Ring entwendet hat. Sherlock und Walter ermitteln ... Der sehr spannende ideenreiche Mitratekrimi mit vielen Bildern soll auch zum Englischlernen dienen. Deshalb sind alle englischen Sätze blau eingefärbt, deren Übersetzung findet man im Anhang des Buches. Für das allererste Englisch sind die Sätze und Wörter allerdings zu schwer, zu mühselig auch das ständige Nachschauen. Teilweise erklärt sich die Übersetzung aus dem Kontext, nur kennt man dann immer noch nicht die Aussprache der Wörter (Anhörmöglichkeit auf der Internetseite der Duden-Leseprofi-Reihe, doch wer macht das schon?). Sehr gute Leser können die englischen Begriffe leichthin übergehen und bekommen dafür einen tollen Krimi mit einem überraschenden Ende. Nicht in 1. Linie zum Englischlernen, sondern für Bibliotheken empfohlen, die auf neue, gute Kinderkrimi-Serien warten!
