Chronischer Stress und dadurch hervorgerufene psychische Erkrankungen wie depressive Störungen nehmen in den letzten Jahren verstärkt zu. Gerade die beiden gesellschaftlich relevanten Berufsgruppen der Lehrkräfte und Ärzte stehen seit längerem im Fokus der Belastungsforschung und gelten als stärker von Stressfolgeerkrankungen betroffen. Systematische Vergleiche fehlen jedoch bislang. Die Studie unterzieht deshalb das Belastungserleben von Lehrkräften und Ärzten einem Vergleich. Anschließend fokussiert der Band auf Möglichkeiten für eine passgenaue, wirkungsvolle Prävention von Stressfolgeerkrankungen bei den beiden Berufsgruppen. Dafür bedarf es einerseits einer verbesserten Identifizierung von besonders gefährdeten Personen und andererseits einer Einschätzung, welche Faktoren bei bestimmten Gruppen Einfluss auf die Entstehung von Belastungserleben haben. Ein Risikomuster für die Auswahl von Personen für Präventionsmaßnahmen wird postuliert und überprüft. Zudem wird ein Modell zur Entstehung berufsbezogenen Stresserlebens untersucht. Während sich bei der Depressivität die Ergebnisse für Lehrkräfte und Krankenhausärzte ähneln, kontrastieren die Berufsgruppen in Bezug auf Arbeitsengagement deutlich.
