Was und wie möchten Schülerinnen und Schüler der Sekundarstufe II sowie Studierende in ihrem Fremdsprachenunterricht (Englisch, Französisch, Italienisch, Spanisch, Russisch) lernen und welches Kompetenzprofil möchten sie erwerben? Beeinflusst die Reihenfolge, in der sie ihre Fremdsprachen lernen, ihre Einstellung zu fremden Sprachen und dem Sprachenlernen? Die Daten der Studie wurden mithilfe zweier Fragebögen erhoben und mit statistischen Verfahren ausgewertet. Sie untersucht die Lernziele von Schülerinnen und Schülern sowie von Studierenden in den bereits erlernten Fremdsprachen und in den Sprachen, deren Erwerb sie in der Zukunft anstreben. Ein weiterer Aspekt betrifft das Unterrichtserlebnis. Die gewonnenen Daten geben Auskunft über die Wechselwirkungen zwischen den Sprachen innerhalb der Sprachlernbiographien. Quantitative Studien sind, weil zu selten, in der fremdsprachendidaktischen Forschung ein besonderes Desiderat, obwohl sie für die Erforschung der Komplexion lern- und unterrichtsrelevanter Variablen - z.B. Einstellungen, Lernerfahrungen, Lernziele - einen wichtigen Beitrag leisten
