Der deutsche Fernsehmarkt wird massiv vom Staat reguliert: Beruht diese Regulierungsdichte auf einem verbreiteten Marktversagen, oder sind die Ursachen vielmehr in den Interessen der beteiligten Akteure zu suchen? Der vorliegende Band untersucht, ob und inwiefern in der Fernsehproduktion Marktversagen vorliegt, und erweitert die Analyse um polit-ökonomische Motive der beteiligten Unternehmen und Politiker. Es zeigt sich zweierlei: Zum einen sind unerwünschte Marktergebnisse nicht zwingend ein Beleg für weiteren Regulierungsbedarf, sondern vielmehr für zu viele (falsche) Regulierungsmaßnahmen; zum anderen lassen sich ordnungspolitisch gebotene Deregulierungen aufgrund eines verbreiteten Interesses an Regulierung nur schwierig durchsetzen.
