Ein Register und ein wirklich brauchbares Literaturverzeichnis runden das für deutsche Verhältnisse überarbeitete Werk ab, das auch Stadtbewohnern nützliche Hinweise bietet. Die Autoren stehen in der Tradition des klassischen John Seymour ("Das neue Buch vom Leben auf dem Lande", zuletzt BA 4/10), der optisch altmodischer wirkt. Vergleichbar sind von Alan Bridgewater das ausführliche "Lust auf Landleben" und das preisgünstige "Selbstversorgung ..." (BA 10/09). Neben (auch ohne) diese Titel ist Strawbridge überall zu empfehlen, für das Geld wird viel Ausstattung und Inhalt geboten. (1)
