Im Fokus der vorliegenden Studie stehen die Ergebnisse einer längsschnittlichen Erhebung des schulgrammatischen Wissens von rund 350 Studienanfängerinnen und -anfängern der Germanistik, die mehrheitlich einen Lehramtsabschluss anstreben. Die Befragung der Studentinnen und Studenten erfolgte vor und nach dem Besuch eines hochschulischen Seminars zu Grundlagen der Grammatik, mithin beruhen die vorliegenden Befunde auf einem echten und einem Quasi-Längsschnitt. Ziel der Studie ist, das schulgrammatische Wissen der Studienanfänger und -anfängerinnen in seiner Entwicklung zu erfassen und zu analysieren. Das grammatische Wissen, differenziert in die Subdimensionen Syntax und Wortarten, ist dabei als eine Facette professionellen Fachwissens von (angehenden) Lehrkräften modelliert. Die Veränderungen im grammatischen Wissen werden mithilfe eines fachwissenschaftlichen Erhebungsinstruments (Paper-and-Pencil-Test) erfasst und auf der Basis des dichotomen Rasch-Modells der Item-Response-Theorie (IRT) analysiert. Hintergrundmerkmale wie Alter, Geschlecht, Abiturdurchschnittsnote sowie Migrationshintergrund werden zu den Leistungen der Studierenden mithilfe von Regressionsanalysen in Bezug gesetzt.
