Long description: Die allegorische Denkform ist in unserem ästhetischen Erfahrungsraum allgegenwärtig. Vor allem das schon in der Antike etablierte Darstellungsprinzip personifizierter Abstrakta beeinflusst nicht zuletzt zeitgenössische Auseinandersetzungen mit allegorischer Projektion, Montage und Parodie. Dabei scheinen Personifikationen zugleich eine Reflexion von Körperlichkeit abzubilden und zu ästhetisieren. Unter der Frage, inwiefern die Allegorie als ästhetisches bzw. antiästhetisches Prinzip wirken kann, wird hier der Zusammenhang von Ästhetik und Geschlecht vom Mittelalter bis zur Gegenwart untersucht. In epochenübergreifender und transkultureller Perspektive widmet sich der Band den Wechselwirkungen des allegorischen und des natürlichen Körpers.; Biographical note: Cornelia Logemann (Dr.) lehrt Kunstgeschichte in Heidelberg und ist Leiterin der Heidelberger Nachwuchsgruppe »Prinzip 'Personifikation'. Visuelle Intelligenz und epistemische Tradition 1300-1800«. Sie forscht zu allegorischen Darstellungsverfahren in spätmittelalterlicher und frühneuzeitlicher Literatur und Kunst Frankreichs. Miriam Oesterreich (M.A.) ist wissenschaftliche Volontärin am Wilhelm-Hack-Museum in Ludwigshafen und promoviert zu exotistischen frühen Reklamebildern. Julia Rüthemann ist DAAD-Lektorin an der Université de Bourgogne in Dijon und promoviert über den Zusammenhang von Personifikation, Geschlecht und Poetik in mittelalterlichen Texten
