Balalaika und Bierkrug, Trunksucht und Pünktlichkeit, wilder Kosak und faschistische Bestie: Zahlreiche positive und negative Eigenschaften prägten und vereinfachten in der Vergangenheit das Bild der Deutschen und der Russen vom Anderen - bis in die heutige Zeit. Die Ausstellung "Unsere Russen - Unsere Deutschen. Bilder vom Anderen. 1800 bis 2000" blickt auf diese wechselseitigen Vorstellungen zurück, die in Deutschland und Russland im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert existierten. Ausgewählte Objekte aus russischen und deutschen Sammlungen wie Gemälde, Skulpturen, Druckgraphiken, Plakate, Buchillustrationen, Fotodokumente und Alltagsgegenstände erzählen die Geschichte öffentlicher und privater Vorstellungen vom Anderen. Dabei zeigt die Ausstellung, wie nachhaltig wirksam und verblüffend aktuell gegenseitige Vorurteile sein können. Die Ausstellung gibt dem Besucher die Möglichkeit, kritisch über seine eigenen Einstellungen und Vorurteile zu reflektieren. Sie verdeutlicht auch, dass Bilder vom Anderen einem steten Wandel unterliegen. Ein Kooperationsprojekt des Deutsch-Russischen Museums Berlin-Karlshorst und des Staatlichen Historischen Museums Moskau unter der Schirmherrschaft der Außenminister der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und der Russischen Föderation, Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier und Sergej W.
