Im vorliegenden Band geht es um die Eigenschaften, die dem Verb an sich zukommen, also um seine Veränderlichkeit nach Person und Numerus, um seine Finitformen - darunter auch alles, was in den meisten Grammatiken "Tempus" genannt wird -, um seine Passivierbarkeit usw. Es wird gezeigt, wie sich die Finitkategorien in beiden Sprachen unterscheiden. So verwendet das Serbische keine Konjunktive, sondern muss, was der deutsche Konjunktiv aussagt, mit anderen Mitteln umschreiben. Das Deutsche besitzt keinen Aorist oder dergleichen. Einer der Hauptunterschiede zwischen den verbalen Kategorien besteht im Aspekt, den nur das Serbische kennt; diese Besonderheit wird im Kapitel 4 beschrieben. Der Band wurde von Germanisten und Serbisten erarbeitet. Er soll beim Spracherwerb eingesetzt werden; daher wendet er sich an Lehrer und Lerner in gleicher Weise.
