Die allgegenwärtige Verknüpfung unserer Existenz mit der biologischen Evolution ist ansprechend und überzeugend präsentiert. Der sinnvoll strukturierte, informative Text ist auch für den naturwissenschaftlich kaum vorgebildeten Leser gut verständlich und flüssig lesbar. Die vielen hochwertigen Farbfotografien, Farbgrafiken und besonders die ungewöhnlichen Computertomografien (Röntgenschnittbilder) von Menschen auch in sportlichen Positionen und von Tieren laden zum Blättern wie in einem Bildband ein. Das Buch ist mit ausführlichem Inhaltsverzeichnis und Register gut erschlossen. Auf ein Literaturverzeichnis hat der Autor nach eigenen Angaben bewusst verzichtet, wünschenswert im Hinblick auf weiterführende Literatur für interessierte Leser wäre es dennoch.
