The text is the revised version of a report presented on 27 June 2018 on the digitisation and cataloguing of the glass slide collection of the Department for Art and Visual History of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Four elements of the conceptual basis of the project, which focusses on the principles of open access, are explained: the objective, the digitisation concept, the indexing concept and the principle of a full coverage approach. In addition, the first examples of insights into the content made possible by digital indexing are shown, in particular the attribution of individual slides to persons of the former faculty, such as Heinrich Wölfflin, Oskar Wulff, or Adolph Goldschmidt.
