Das Heilige Land - zwischen biblischen Orten und Zeiten und der prekären politischen Situation unserer Tage. Josef Wohlmuth nimmt uns mit auf eine Reise an die heiligen Orte biblischer Offenbarung, in deren Umkreis er selbst gelebt und reiche Erfahrung gesammelt hat. Damit wird ein theologisches Reisebuch vorgelegt, dessen narrativer Charakter die Möglichkeit bietet, Theologie und Spiritualität, Jüdisches, Christliches und Muslimisches, Poetisches und Politisches miteinander in Verbindung zu setzen. Das Einzigartige nicht nur dieser Region, sondern auch dieses Buches lässt so etwas wie eine 'experimentelle' Theologie entstehen, bei der die spätmittelalterliche Umschreibung von Mystik Pate steht, die sich als 'Gotteserkenntnis aus Erfahrung' verstand. So wird diese Reise ins Heilige Land auch zu einer Reise in den eigenen Glauben, der an den biblischen Stätten seine 'Erdung' erfährt. Im unsäglichen Spannungsgefüge zwischen Historie und Gegenwart sowie zwischen den drei großen religiösen Traditionen kann ein reiferer Glaube entstehen, der das Wissbare nicht ausschließt und sich doch dem unsagbaren Geheimnis öffnet. So entstehen Bausteine für eine Theologie heiliger Orte, die von Galiläa über den Sinai vor allem in das Gebiet des einstigen Judäa, nach Jerusalem und Bethlehem führen und deren Vergegenwärtigung zumal in den heiligen Zeiten der liturgischen Feier geschieht. Gedacht ist an eine Leserschaft, die sich theologisch, spirituell, und politisch mit den Orten der biblischen Offenbarung intensiver befassen möchte und dabei nicht in der Vergangenheit stehen bleibt. Ohne einen Dialog der drei monotheistischen Religionen im Heiligen Land heute und ohne einen kritischen Blick auf ihre Friedensfähigkeit erscheint dies nicht möglich. Das Buch soll Theologiestudierenden zur Vertiefung sowie Pilgern und Reisenden als Begleit- und Meditationslektüre dienen. Dabei scheut es sich nicht, die Dinge beim Namen zu nennen. Man kann das Heilige Land nicht bereisen, ohne die politische Situation zur Kenntnis zu nehmen. So kann das vorliegende Buch auch als Einladung zum Dialog zwischen Judentum, Christentum und Islam gelesen werden, der zur Befriedung der Region beiträgt.
