In diesem Band wird zum ersten Mal innerhalb der Mediävistik versucht, das vom Konzept des performative turn geprägte Bild vom interaktiven Mittelalter zu hinterfragen. Ausgangspunkt ist Robert Pfallers Entwurf eines interpassiven Aktionsmodus: Das Mittelalter wird hierbei eben nicht als interaktive Kultur gesehen, die politisch, religiös und literarisch von performativ-interaktiven Gruppenphänomenen gekennzeichnet ist. Vielmehr können Menschen, statt selbst zu agieren, Interaktion offenbar auch an andere delegieren, haben dabei aber dennoch in gewisser Weise Teil an dieser Interaktion. Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler aus Germanistik, Geschichtswissenschaft und Theologie untersuchen in den Beiträgen dieses Bandes, welche Konsequenzen sich daraus für das Bild vom interaktiven Mittelalter ergeben. Sie spiegeln die Ergebnisse einer interdisziplinären Fachtagung zum Thema «Interpassivität und Mediävistik» wider.
