Content: Harold Chen, MD, shares his almost 40 years of clinical genetics practice in a comprehensive pictorial atlas of 203 genetic disorders, malformations, and malformation syndromes. The author provides a detailed outline for each disorder, describing its genetics, basic defects, clinical features, diagnostic tests, and counseling issues, including recurrence risk, prenatal diagnosis, and management. Numerous color photographs of prenatal ultrasounds, imagings, cytogenetics, and postmortem findings illustrate the clinical features of patients at different ages, patients with varying degrees of severity, and the optimal diagnostic strategies. The disorders cited are supplemented by case histories and diagnostic confirmation by cytogenetics, biochemical, and molecular techniques, when available. The Atlas of Genetic Diagnosis and Counseling will help all physicians to understand and recognize genetic diseases and malformation syndromes and better evaluate, counsel, and manage affected patients. Also available in a CD-ROM edition (ISBN: 1-58829-974-5).

Content: Across a turbulent history, Black poets created a rich and multifaceted tradition that has been both a reckoning with American realities and an imaginative response to them. One of the great American art forms, African American poetry encompasses many kinds of verse: formal, experimental, vernacular, lyric, and protest. The anthology opens with moving testaments to the power of poetry as a means of self-assertion, as enslaved people voice their passionate resistance to slavery. This volume captures the power and beauty of this diverse tradition and its challenge to American poetry and culture. The volume also features biographies of each poet and notes that illuminate cultural references and allusions to historical events. -- adapted from jacket

Content: In this open access book, seventeen scholars discuss how contemporary Scandinavian art and media have become important arenas to articulate and stage various forms of vulnerability in the Scandinavian welfare states. How do discourses of privilege and vulnerability coexist and interact in Scandinavia? How do the Scandinavian countries respond to vulnerability given increased migration? How is vulnerability distributed in terms of margin and centre, normality and deviance? And how can vulnerability be used to move audiences towards each other and accomplish change? We address these questions in an interdisciplinary study that brings examples from celebrated and provocative fiction and documentary films, TV-series, reality TV, art installations, design, literature, graphic art, radio podcasts and campaigns on social media. .

Content: Dr. Chen shares his almost 40 years of clinical genetics practice in a comprehensive pictorial atlas of almost 250 genetic disorders, malformations, and malformation syndromes. In this new edition, 47 additional genetic disorders are added, as well as extensive updates made to the previous disorders. New illustrations, as previous edition, will be supplemented by case and family history, clinical features, and laboratory data, especially molecular confirmation.

Content: Interdisciplinary/Multidisciplinary Woolf comprises thirty-five essays selected from papers delivered at the 22nd Annual International Conference on Virginia Woolf, hosted by the University of Saskatchewan. Contributors link inter- and multidisciplinary scholarship to the intellectual and creative projects of Woolf and her modernist peers. Essays that identify and extend points of contact between literary studies and varied disciplines are arranged in four thematic sections: "History, Materiality, Multiplicity"; "Patterns, Practices, Principles"; "Art, Influence, Embodiment"; and "Publishing, Politics, Publics." This collection contains writing by established and emergent scholars, including Susan Brown, Patricia Clements, and Isobel Grundy (editors of Orlando: Women's Writing in the British Isles, from the Beginnings to the Present); Leslie Kathleen Hankins; Maggie Humm; and Brenda Silver.
