Anhand von Fallstudien aus dem modernen und zeitgenössischen euroamerikanischen Bühnentanz untersucht Julia Ostwald diverse Stimm-Körper-Konstellationen, die kanonisierten Setzungen von Tanz als stummer Kunstform entgegenlaufen.
