Biographisches: " Euripides ist einer der großen klassischen Dramatiker, der etwa 90 Tragödien verfasste von denen 18 erhalten sind. Er ist nach Aischylos und Sophokles der jüngste der drei großen griechischen Tragödiendichter. Über sein Leben ist sehr wenig überliefert. Während des zweiten Perserkriegs flohen seine Eltern 480 v. Chr. nach Salamis, wo er geboren wurde. Euripides soll immer wieder nach Salamis zurückgekehrt sein, um in einer Höhle zurückgezogen seine Dramen zu verfassen. Die Höhle des Euripides konnte 1997 im Süden der Insel identifiziert werden. Seinen Stücke sind unter den am meisten gespielten Tragödien der Weltliteratur. Das Drama »Orestes« wird heute nur noch selten gespielt, zählte aber nach seiner Uraufführung im Jahr 408 v. Chr. lange Zeit zu den beliebtesten antiken Tragödien." Biographisches: "Raoul Schrott, 1964 auf einer Schiffsreise zwischen Brasilien und Europa geboren, wuchs in Tunis und Zürich auf, studierte Literatur- und Sprachwissenschaft in Norwich, Paris, Berlin und Innsbruck und war 1986-87 Sekretär Philippe Soupaults. Von 1990 bis 1993 Lektor der Germanistik am Istituto Orientale von Neapel. 1996 habilitierte er am Institut für Komparatistik in Innsbruck. Wenn er nicht auf Reisen ist, lebt er in Südfrankreich. Er veröffentlichte u.a. den Gedichtband »Tropen« (1998). Unter seinen zahlreichen Auszeichnungen sind u.a.: Österreichisches Staatsstipendium (1993), Preis des Landes Kärnten beim Ingeborg-Bachmann-Preis (1994), Leonce und Lena - Preis (1995), Rauriser Literaturpreis u.
